How do I know if I need a CPAP?
Before visiting a doctor to confirm whether you’re having OSA, ask yourself if you had the following symptoms.
STOP-BANG (Go and see a doctor if meet the criteria)
- Snoring (Yes +1 /No +0)
- Tiredness in Day time (Yes +1 /No +0)
- Observed Apnea (Stop breathing at night – Yes +1/ No +0)
- High Blood Pressure (BP Normal range 120/80) (below +0/ Above +1)
- Body Mass Index (BMI) (Below 35 +0/ Above 35 +1)
- Age (Below 50 +0 / Above 50 +1)
- Neck Circumference (Below 40 cm +0/ Above 40cm +1)
- Gender (Male +1/ Female +0)
If you have one or more symptoms as stated above, there is a chance that you may be suffering from sleep apnea;
- Low risk: Yes (1-2)
- Moderate risk: Yes (3-4)
- High risk: Yes (5-8)
